The news that "I Want Sandy" and "Stikkit", two free web 2.0 services are shutting down has been going around the blogs the last few days; the reason being that the founder, Rael Dornfest, is moving to a new job at Twitter.
It's not that for-pay services are immune to shutting down, or that run-your-own products will free you of such difficulties, but you have to admit, sometimes you do get what you pay for.
For some people, like my buddy Wayne who seems to live in Twitter via his iPhone, delights at the newest tech toys, and leaps between new web services in a single bound, discovery and migration to new services is just part of a normal day. For most people, I suspect it's far more a pain in the ass.
